SCHIAVI DI ABRUZZO is a small town in the province of Chieti with 676 inhabitants on 1272 m a.s.l., clung on a Mount Pizzuto is the highest village of the Vastese region, set on the border with Molise. It was probably founded by a Slav community (so the name of the village) proceeding by the opposite shore of the Adriatic Sea, just before the year 1000.
