Monte Vairano, located north-west of Busso, marks the border with Campobasso. A legend is connected to this place: a Roman youth had fallen in love with a Samnite girl (people originate from this area), who left the city door open at night to go and meet her lover, but the Roman legions were ready to take advantage and she was killed in the attack; on learning of her death, also the young Roman killed himself - and the whispers of the two lovers seeking each other can still be heard among the trees of the Vairano forest. Busso is the ideal place for those seeking quiet, yet not far from all amenities, shops, business sited in Campobasso. The gastronomic tradition presents recipes related to this land of ancient pastoral vocation, as lamb, and corn soup with vegetables, mushrooms and truffles of which this territory is rich. It remains alive the presence of crafts such as carpentry, iron working, transformation and processing of mushrooms and truffles. Also about 6 km from Busso is allocated a major dairy factory where you can sample delicious local cheeses. As in many other inland towns, Busso has undergone a demographic reduction, but has meant that real estate prices come down considerably.
