FRESAGRANDINARIA dominates for its mighty mass of stone and its artificial caves dug into the chalk, on the eastern ridge of Mount Moro, at 391 meters above sea level. A village of 953 inhabitants in the province of Chieti, of Lombard origin, it is a charming village with a high landscape, cultural and environmental value not far from Vasto, a city of sea and culture. Fresagrandinaria has preserved the typical appearance of a medieval village, made up of buildings built by the skilled and centuries-old mastery of limestone and sandstone workers. The town culminates in the massive structure of the parish church dedicated to the Holy Savior founded in the Middle Ages but then almost completely rebuilt in 1858, distorting the original appearance. Inside there is a stone stoup from 1663, two 18th century canvases, a wooden crucifix from the 16th century, the two ancient statues depicting San Biagio and San Germano, an 18th century procession cross in school silver Neapolitan, a relic of San Sebastiano. Inside a cave, on the right bank of the Treste river, in the locality of Guardiola, it is possible to visit the Church of Sant'Antonio da Padova, built in 1910 to honor the repeated apparitions of the Saint, who appeared in the nearby cave. The original church was demolished and rebuilt in 1975 in stone, with the façade facing the river and connected as originally to the cave, it is located in a natural environment of rare beauty, recognized as an area of naturalistic interest. The village offers the opportunity to visit a peasant and migration museum in the ancient premises of a medieval tavern, dug into the rock, a testimony of the peasant and agricultural life of the past, as society was without electricity, motor cars, running water, toilets, paved roads, telephones, radios and televisions. The prevailing economy is the primary sector that offers us the opportunity to taste and buy authentic and simple products, foods rich in care, flavor, quality and tradition. These include porchetta, cured meats and ventricina, local oil and local wines. The Pro Loco of Fresagrandinaria organizes various events that attract, at different times of the year, many tourists, thanks for example to the "Borgustado" food and wine events in both the summer and winter versions, an excellent time to put on the plate everything that the village has to offer: products, accommodations, cultural and historical experiences, experiences in nature and people's stories. Traditional cuisine is simple but very varied because it has used and uses seasonal products that are readily available. For example, mixed wild vegetables, breaded and fried horsetail sprouts, green olives cured and eaten in the evening as a side dish. The cold cuts are homemade ones such as goat or cow cheese, ventricina which here we call viscìca, sausages, meat or liver sausages, soppressata made with pieces of pork tenderloin. The pride of Fresa are the desserts, each type of which is suitable for their occasion and season. For example, taralli are made in May on the occasion of the pilgrimage, scrippelle and calcionetti and zeppole are prepared for Christmas, cicerchiata at Carnival, pupa, horse, heart and fiadone at Easter. Cold cuts prepared with selected meat and seasoned with only salt, live fennel seeds, red pepper powder and properly seasoned. In the village there are post office, bakery, bar, grocery store, butcher, restaurants.
