ROCCAMANDOLFI is a small town located in the Matese mountains at the foot of the ruins of a castle of Lombard origin, an ideal destination for lovers of long walks who can take an intriguing and evocative route that starts from the Lombard castle and, passing a journey characterized by mountain paths, woods and streams, arriving up to the adrenaline-pumping Tibetan Bridge: a small engineering and metal carpentry masterpiece suspended in the void over the rocky landscape characterized by the Canyon excavated by the Callora river. For those who love history, we recommend a visit to the village of brigands, characteristic for its narrow, winding streets and small stone houses, among which the church of San Giacomo Maggiore stands out, built in Baroque style and containing the relics of San Liberato. and a valuable wooden sculpture by the Campobasso artist Di Zinno. The town can be reached via winding roads but, once reached, it can offer a lot as it is rich in peculiarities, both historical-cultural and naturalistic, such as the numerous waterfalls (Cascata Rio, the main one) and the top of Monte Miletto (2050 m a.s.l.). Finally, do not forget Campitello di Roccamandolfi, the perfect place for picnics and excursions, both in summer and in winter. There are plenty of things to do in the village. The most important events are “Rocka in Musica“, a summer musical event, “la gnoccata” on the occasion of the Patron Saint, San Giacomo, on July 25, the “Festa del Pastore“, the “wild boar festival” and those of the snail, with related traditional dishes to taste. Currently Roccamandolfi no longer knows the harsh cold that caused exceptional snowfalls until a few decades ago, on the contrary the summer climate now reaches and exceeds 35 °C every year. However, the climate is dry and the air remains cooler than in neighboring countries even in the height of summer. In the village there are: pizzeria, bar/café, hotel, butcher, cannery.
