The village of GIULIANO TEATINO is an Italian town of 1,220 inhabitants, located in southern Italy, in the Abruzzo region, in the province of Chieti (CH). The inhabited center is located at an altitude of 272 meters. above sea level and belongs to the altimetric area called coastal hill, rich in vineyards and orchards, also important for its olive groves. The territory was inhabited since the Middle Ages, as amply testified by some scholars. Giuliano Teatino is a characteristic village to visit, a place immersed in tranquillity, rich in history and strong religious traditions. It presents itself to the eyes of the visitor with a charming, very characteristic historical centre. Among the monuments and places of interest we point out: the church of Santa Maria della Neve and the church of Maria Assunta e del Carmine. The cherry festival is celebrated on the first Sunday of June and on the 19th August the feast of the patron saint. The beginning of August also sees the feast of "Sant'Emidio and the Madonna della Neve", on 4 and 5 August, celebrated near the church of the same name, where an ancient statue of the Madonna is kept, which appears seated on a fig tree, in stone, dated XIII century. The taralli di Sant'Antonio are the typical sweets of the feast of August 18 and 19 dedicated to Sant'Antonio da Padova. In Giuliano Teatino the statue of the saint is placed on a cart decorated with paper festoons between which the blessed taralli are placed. The preparation recipe is secret and has been handed down for a very long time. The proceeds from the sale of the taralli are donated to the village church, where the statue of the patron saint is kept. In the village there are banks, bars, restaurants and shops. Less than 20 km from the Adriatic coast.
