MONTECILFONE is a village in the lower Molise, a few kilometers from the coast, nestled on a hill at 405 m asl where you can enjoy a view of the sea and the nearby Abruzzo mountains. It is one of the four Albanian minority towns in Molise and has 1180 inhabitants. In fact, during the fifteenth century, many Albanians flocked to the Molise coasts to escape persecution by the Turks and here, centuries later, the Albanian language and traditions are still preserved. Its strategic location, even a few kilometers from larger urban centers, makes it a suitable place not only to spend holidays, but also a starting point for getting to know the beauties of Italy. The climate is temperate, so the vegetation is luxuriant. The town offers basic services such as post office, medical service, restaurant, bar, delicatessen, bakery, B&B, butcher and grocery store. The origins of the town probably date back to the Roman era, which later became a medieval fief. Of artistic interest is the town church, the castle with the tower and the ducal palace. Of no small importance are the genuineness and goodness of local products, such as homemade pasta and cured meats.
