TORNARECCIO is located on the slopes of Mount Pallano in an area full of charm, both for its natural beauties and for its archaeological and historical-cultural treasures. In the historic center of the village, whose earliest records date back to the ninth century, one breathes an air of particular charm. Walking through its narrow streets is a unique experience as the village is a surprising open-air museum! Currently, more than eighty mosaics are installed on the facades of the houses thanks to the event "Un mosaico per Tornareccio", an event created in 2006. Since then, every year, the curator of the event invites a group of artists to create sketches that have a common theme; in August an exhibition is set up and the most voted sketches by the population and visitors, the following year they are transformed into mosaics and installed on the facades of the houses. Tornareccio is an agricultural country par excellence. Renowned dairy products are produced here and the beekeeping activity reaches remarkable levels. Sulla, millefiori, acacia, rhododendron, eucalyptus, orange: these are just a few delicious types of honey produced in Tornareccio, a true "capital" of this "sweet" product. Every year, the last weekend of the month of September, the characteristic alleys of the historic center host the "Tornareccio Regina di Miele" event, an exhibition of honey and typical products with exposure, tasting and sales. In addition, you should not miss the visit to the Megalithic Walls and the Naturalistic Archaeological Park of Monte Pallano. In fact, in its territory stand the majestic polygonal walls of Monte Pallano, a circuit that can be visited for 160 m, which in some places preserves the considerable height of almost 5 m! The powerful fortification, erected in all likelihood by the ancient Lucani del Sangro, contained various settlements within it.
