SAN GIOVANNI LIPIONI is a tiny mountain village in the province of Chieti with 138 inhabitants where there is a mini market and a bar. In addition to the picturesque historic center characterized by houses in carved stone, in San Giovanni we can admire the fortified village of the XIII-XIV century. The churches represent a very important heritage, such as that of Santa Maria delle Grazie, built in 1504. The Chapel of Santa Liberata and the ancient buildings of the Lozzi and Rossi family are no less, the latter distinguished by a mighty stone arch and a door with period friezes. The typical local products are strongly linked to the strong flavors of traditional Abruzzo cuisine. On the table there is no shortage of specialties such as sagne a'pezzate and sausages and scrippelle, very similar in preparation to that of French crepes. Characteristic are the meat dishes such as the famous arrosticini, wines, sausages, sweets, oils and other delicacies that tell of the strong bond that has always united the local community with the land.
